Saturday special: Furnishings for commercial interiors

Please visit FF&E Specifier, a new blog showing furnishings for commercial interiors, including hospitality, office, healthcare, education and retail. You'll find sources of products and, perhaps, some inspiration.

This is a new venture I'm involved in. If you manufacture furniture, lighting, flooring or wall decor for the contract interiors market, please submit products.

Or, if you are an interior designer working in commercial interiors, submit a recently completed installation.

See the Contribute to FF&E Specifer tab.

Occasional tables and case goods

Somerset Bay adds to its color palette by expanding the line to more than 150 items for the living room, bedroom and dining room. The company introduced larger statement furnishings and more delicately scaled occasional pieces.
Each piece in the case goods collection is handcrafted from plantation-grown mahogany and premium veneers and trim. Distressing, dry brushing, and antiquing shapes the character of each piece.

Contemporary seating and case goods

Dorya’s Contemporain Collection, designed by the company’s Creative Director, Megan Perry, consists of about 200 handmade case goods and upholstered products. The designs have their origins in styles from different eras, but they feature clean, graceful lines that are fresh and suitable for today’s living environments, the company states.

“I wanted to create a line that was ‘in the moment’ but with pieces that can be used in interiors for years to come,” Perry said. “While some might call it modern, I prefer to think of Contemporain as timeless because timeless furniture never loses its appeal. The focus of this collection is grace and simplicity.”

The pieces consist of exotic woods, including mahogany, lemanja, and walnut burl; and textures that include leather and chrome. “This line is intended to demonstrate that Dorya’s specialty is still the ability to make outstanding handcrafted furniture, so the wood choice and details are very important,” Perry added.
