Surtex 2013 starts May 19, showing works of more than 1,000 artists for textiles, giftware, home decor, floorcoverings

Here's why thousands of executives from both manufacturers and retailers have already registered to attend SURTEX® on May 19-21, 2013 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City.

This trade show is the single B2B marketplace for trends, insights and inspiration that impact design decisions for products across all home categories! With exhibitors offering the freshest and most original expressions of creativity, the conference sessions providing an immersion in licensing practices and an update on legal issues, plus the trend forecasters sharing what they've seen in locations around the globe, there's no end to the possibilities for education, licensing and sales opportunities and networking.

In its 27th year, SURTEX will host more than 320 exhibitors representing the works of more than 1,000 artists and designers from all over the world. Poised to display spectacular collections of the newest patterns, textures and colors on the horizon, they will speak with more than 7,000 attendees (art buyers and licensees) who annually seek surface designs of all styles for diverse products in the gift and home markets.

Among the broad spectrum of markets represented are decorative fabrics, tabletop, giftware, ceramics, linens and domestics, wall coverings and floor coverings. Buyers and licensees are manufacturers and trend-conscious retailers who want to tap into the latest imagery.

SURTEX offers a glimpse of what will be in development and launched for next year's product line-up. New in 2013 is Atelier, a by-invitation-only section of the trade show, where trend-forward textile design studios that primarily sell their designs will display their collections, some making their debut at SURTEX. These top textile specialists include more than 90 sought-after studios from the United States and Europe; indeed, nearly half the designers are from outside the US: from Great Britain, Italy, France, Netherlands, Israel, Japan and Argentina because there are no boundaries in the world of design for artists and buyers.

In addition to browsing the designs in the exhibitors' booths, all SURTEX attendees and participants may attend the multiple daily sessions of the Trend Theatre, where world-renowned trend forecasters, with their fingers on the pulse of the market, will present their perspectives in 30-minute multi-media slide shows. Complimentary and exclusive to SURTEX, these sessions will traverse the globe and bring inspiration straight from the heart of the market, the latest in color, design, texture and theme directions across multiple categories.

The popular Conference Program is an immersion in the art & design business for newcomer artists as well as veterans in the industry. Topics include marketplace developments, legal issues, business-building insights and retail trends. The intensive sessions are a great way to enhance one’s skills and value in the design community.

Still need a reason to attend SURTEX? Listen to Mike Waldner, Director at Curtis Licensing: "SURTEX has become a very important show to Curtis Licensing for several reasons. It not only gives us an opportunity to visit with existing as well as potential licensees at our booth where we can show them our new image collections, but we can also view new product launches, existing product collections and learn stationery trends on the Stationery side of the market. In addition, the timing of the show allows us to begin discussions with companies at SURTEX and finalize agreements later in the year."

You'll get more than an eyeful of the future of design plus insights that every design-related business – whether manufacturer or retailer – should be planning for success in 2014/15. See you at SURTEX. For registration and attendance details, visit www.surtex.com.
